Ministry of Communications and Information Technology announces organizing an introductory webinar as part of the activities of the third edition of the African Presidential Youth in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Competition, which is being hosted by Egypt. The webinar, titled “Unlocking Africa’s Future through Artificial Intelligence and Robotics: Opportunities for Egyptian Youth”, will be held online on May 6th.
The webinar is targeted at Egyptian youth, innovators, students, developers, and entrepreneurs. It will provide an overview of the competition, together with practical guidance and insights on how to participate and excel.
The session will explore opportunities for innovation in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, pathways for developing effective solutions, and ways to engage with Africa’s growing AI and robotics ecosystem. It will also highlight opportunities for funding and mentorship, in addition to offering participants direct interaction with the competition organizers. Valuable information will also be provided on application requirements and competition categories.
Several regional and international organizations are participating in organizing the competition, including the International Telecommunication Union, the African Development Bank, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, and the African Export-Import Bank, in addition to a number of leading global companies operating in the information and communications technology sector.
The competition is regarded as one of the leading continental initiatives aimed at strengthening the continent leadership in the fields of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It seeks to encourage young people aged 18 to 35 to develop solutions based on artificial intelligence, robotics, and emerging technologies to address development challenges across the continent and support sustainable development pathways.
The competition provides an interactive platform for transforming ideas into effective applications. It also creates opportunities for networking among young innovators, investors, policymakers, and industry leaders. In addition, it contributes to the development of regulatory frameworks and financing mechanisms that support digital transformation and industrialization in Africa, in line with the African Union Agenda 2063.
This edition includes 12 main tracks covering vital sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, mining, climate, construction and architecture, financial technology, AI ethics, robotics design, quantum computing, and an open category.
The Presidential Award, the grand prize, will be presented to the most outstanding innovations capable of creating tangible and sustainable impact and supporting inclusive growth across the continent. Finalists in this category will be honored during the AI for Good Global Summit, organized by the International Telecommunication Union in July.
