In a distinguished celebratory atmosphere, the General Syndicate of Sports Professions organized a grand ceremony attended by prominent academic figures to honor the winners of the “Sports as National Security - Ramadan Competition”. The competition was launched by the Syndicate through the "Masr Al-Riyadiyah" (Egypt Sports) YouTube channel as part of the events of the first edition of the “Kanana Award for Sports Excellence”. The syndicate honored Prof. Hany Sa’eed, Dean of Faculty of Physical Education, on gaining the second rank out of 28 participating faculties of sports sciences at the level of the republic.
This competition aims to support the political leadership and highlight the role of Faculties of Sports Sciences as scientific think tanks, in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who emphasized that sports are national security.
The ceremony was attended by the Board of Directors of the General Syndicate of Sports Professions, led by Prof. Fathy Nada, and Prof. Gamal Mohammed Ali, Secretary-General of the Syndicate and President of the Academy; along with Prof. Ihab Mansour, Assistant Secretary-General; Mr. Mossad Abu El-Regal, Executive Director of the Syndicate; and Coach Ashraf Keshk, a member of the Syndicate’s Board of Directors; in addition to a group of prominent academic leaders, most notably Prof. Hussein El-Semary, Executive Director of the Egyptian Olympic Committee; Prof. Tareq Abdel Aziz, former Dean of Faculty of Sports Sciences, Assiut University; and Prof. Tareq Farouq, former Dean of Faculty of Sports Sciences, Beni Suef University; and a large number of deans of Faculties of Sports Sciences from across the country.
During the speech he delivered, Prof. Fathy Nada, stated that the competition is not just a contest but a noble national message that embodies the role of sports in building youth awareness and strengthening their sense of belonging. He expressed his deep pride in the Faculties of Sports Sciences, describing them as scientific hubs participating in this national competition. He also pointed out that this award reflects the Syndicate’s commitment to supporting athletic talents and outstanding youth in the field of sports, while also enhancing the spirit of competition and excellence among the faculties in the sports education sector.
For his part, Prof. Hany Sa’eed extended sincere thanks to Prof. Mohammed Hussain, Tanta University President, for the support and encouragement he provided to the faculty. He credited the university president’s wise leadership and open-mindedness for enabling everyone to bear responsibility and achieve goals with integrity and passion in a positive and productive work environment.
He further added that sports serve as a positive outlet for youth, helping them develop essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. By providing an organized and supportive environment, sports contribute to the healthy development of youth, build self-confidence, and foster a sense of responsibility and leadership—skills that can be transferred to other areas of life, shaping them into well-rounded and successful individuals.
