Faculty of Sports Science Highlights the Risks of Rumors and their Impact on the National Security


   Faculty of Sports Science at Tanta University organized a major awareness symposium on Sunday, April 12th, 2026, titled “Rumors and Their Impact on National Security”. The event is a part of the educational role played by the faculty in raising students’ awareness of current social and political issues and strengthening their resilience against misinformation.
   The symposium was held under patronage of Prof. Hany Sa’eed, Faculty Dean, and supervised by Prof. Heba Rawhy Abul Ma’aty, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, in fruitful cooperation with the State Information Service (Gharbia Media Department).
   For his part, Prof. Abdul Fattah Allam, Professor of Sociology at the National Center for Social and Criminological Research in Cairo, delivered the keynote lecture. He provided an in-depth analysis of the phenomenon of rumors, defining their nature and mechanisms of spread, and highlighting their negative impact on the stability of institutions and individuals. He also outlined scientific and practical methods to combat misinformation and protect national resources.

   The symposium witnessed distinguished participation and coordination from the State Information Service, represented by Dr. Shaimaa Agha, Development Media Officer, and Mr. Mohsen Abdullah, media expert and consultant at the organization.
   The event was marked by strong student engagement, along with notable participation from the “For Egypt” student group led by Dr. Fatma Bassiouny. The Youth Welfare Department at the faculty, led by Mr. Al-Sayyed Amer and Ms. Asmaa Ganna, along with their team, handled the organization, contributing to the success of the symposium.
